Platinum Jubilee Events and Activities
WOODNEWTON BIG JUBILEE EVENT
Friday 3rd June 2022 from 1:30pm
To celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee we are holding a community event at Woodnewton Village Hall and playing field. We have something for everyone so please do come and join in the fun.
Sports and games for big kids and little kids
- Sports on the field
- Wellie wanging: wellies for all sizes
- Slow bike ride: I know we have a lot of very keen cyclists whizzing though the village every day, but who can cycle the course in the slowest time without falling off!
- Beat the goalie: test your football skills
Kids Jubilee crown competition
Design a special crown to wear to the Jubilee event. You could make your own from scratch or download and decorate the template to get you started. Get out your glitter and sequins and make it as snazzy as you like.
Cake baking competition
We’re all familiar with a Victoria Sponge, but can you add your own twist to make it extra special? Get your thinking caps on and create your own version of this classic. Bring your creation to the village hall on Friday 3rd June by 1:30pm and see if yours is the Queen of cakes?
The Big Picnic
Join the community for the big picnic in the playing field. Bring your own food and drink. Make it as simple or as fancy as you like; a blanket on the ground or the full works complete with chandelier (some people do, you know who you are!).
Order of play (roughly)
1:30pm - Start
2:00 to 3:30 - Sports and games
3:30 - Announcement of competition prize winners
3:30 to 5:00ish – The Big Picnic
6:00 – National anthem and lighting of the beacon
Let’s put on a show…
…and decorate the village for the occasion –
make sure you put out your flags and bunting!
Calling young artists
We would love to have some of your Jubilee pictures to decorate the hall. You could make a picture of the Queen or colour in a Corgi. Get creative and have fun.
